Maureen Tully Merkl was born in Flushing, Queens, and currently resides in Long Beach, New York, City by the Sea.  She comes from a family deeply rooted in real estate and is a proud and enthusiastic third-generation realtor following in the footsteps of her mom, and grandparents, immigrants from Ireland who had their own small brokerage in Whitestone, Queens.

Formerly with Mermaid Realty & Design—a successful boutique agency specializing in Long Island’s sought after beach properties—Maureen is a member of the Long Island Board of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.  In 2023, Howard Hanna | Coach Realtors merged Mermaid Realty & Design with their Rockville Centre branch. 

Prior to becoming a realtor, Maureen spent over 33 years in the field of legal litigation--white-collar criminal law as a paralegal and personal assistant to a nationally recognized trial lawyer based in New York City. She is a member of Professional Ski Instructors of America (“PSIA”) with a certification in Alpine Skiing.  As a former ski instructor in adaptive skiing, teaching students with developmental and physical disabilities, gives Maureen an innate sense of compassion and empathy for the uniquely individual needs of others.  Her work as a volunteer under the September 11th Disaster and Humanitarian Relief Legal Initiative, as well as numerous other charities, rounds out Maureen’s considerable experience assisting people through life’s major high-pressure transitions.
